Reykjavik city tour

Experience

Reykjavik

Hallgrimskirkja – City hall – Catholic cathedral – Parliament – Old harbour – Harpa

This tour is packed with exciting options

I was born in Reykjavik, close to Hallgrimskirkja. That beautiful landmark wasn’t finished until 1986. I love my city. It has changed since I was a child, it has grown and become more diversified. Reykjavik is the only city in Iceland. It is also the most northern capital in the world. It rains quite a bit, on average 213 days per year but in 2018 it rained for 261 days and that year we only got 1.163 hours of sunshine, about 100 less than average!

Description:

Mer finnst rigningin god (I love the rain) is the name of a great song. Reykvikians love to talk about the weather. If you can predict the weather, you are a rock star. So hopefully we will be blessed with nice weather on this tour. I will certainly have fermented shark and Black Death for you to taste on this tour (if they are available locally). The tour is never the same, as the people are always different. We can do this any way you want. I hope to see you.

Itinerary:

Reykjavik city tour

  • We start when you want – normally during day time though.

  • Hallgrimskirkja church

  • Parliament

  • Catholic cathedral

  • Old harbour

  • Hot dog

  • A museum or two..

We start this tour normally by meeting in downtown Reykjavik or I pick you up where you are staying.

I prefer to start at Hallgrimskirkja. This 74 m/243ft high church was built from 1945 to 1986 and is truly a landmark of Reykjavik. You cannot miss it.

We walk from there towards the city center and on the way we look at the architecture and booming city life.

We might stop for a coffee or local beer and we will also stop for the amazing and world-famous hot dog. I love mixing this tour like this and just go by the vibe, if you are up to walking we walk and if not, we can drive.

There are some fantastic museums that we can check and the food we can taste. And it does not matter if you want a two-hour tour or three hours, we just take it as goes. Also, if you have any special requests, I am sure I can accommodate them.
